| God Bless George Foreman and his Magical Grilling Machine | |
| | Quite simply, this product changed my life! Friends will tell you, when I got it I wouldn't stop going on about it for months. Georgina - as I call her - revolutionised my diet, and not only stopped me going out for takeaways but got me eating healtily when I ate in.
She came with a little cook book of simple recipes - ideal for me as I didn't know the first thing about cooking - and pretty soon I was making my own burgers (which incidentally are still winning cook-offs at BBQs) and even making little foil parcels of chicken breasts with herbs, sauces and stuff in them, and cooking them on it too. She has a little dial on her side which you use to set cooking time and a slider use use to set the cooking temperature. She feels strong and sturdy and suitably, and with a silver and black finish, she'd suitably manly too. A big grab handle - with a rubber grip (presumably for extreme off-road cooking) confirms this and puts an end to any debate that cooking is a task for women.
If I don't use Georgina for meat, I use her for veg. A little drizzle of olive oil over a few mushrooms, peppers, onions and whatnot and you have wonderful veg that looks char-grilled and taste great. The time where georigna really shines though, is at breakfast. Hangovers hold no fear for me nowdays, as I just shove in some rashers of bacon and some sausages, set her to the desired time and pretty soon you have a breakfast bun filled with meaty goodness. Minus ofcourse, all that fat.
The fat drains down along her ridged hot-plates, and into the little trays provided (you get 2) and I'm pretty sure thrifty people could even find a use for this - dripping perhaps... yuk! Or maybe making bird feeders with it in winter. The trays are easily cleaned and you also get a couple of scrapers to help clean the grills with. You can get a model with removable trays and that might be worth looking into - but on the whole, cleaning isn't a problem. A quick wipe when she's still hot rids Georgina of most of the grease, then I just place her over the edge of the sink (she fits perfectly), boil the kettle, and pour the boiling water on the grill. The waters collects any excess grease and steralises her in the process. Sorted.
The handy timer I spoke of earlier allows you to cook food to exact times and schedules, pinging when it's done. This means your sausages never burn in the morning when you get sucked into Soccer AM or fall asleep late at night. Another thing I use this for all the time is tasty ciabattas or toasted sandwiches. Cafe style quisine is made easy by this foolproof phenomenom and every household should have one. It really is easy and it makes cooking a doddle. George made a million off the back of these and in my opinion, rightly so. The Lean Mean Grilling Machine is an item worthy of the Gods. I said it in my title and I'll say it again now: God bless George Forman and his magical grilling machine... and God bless my Georgina too. I love her to bits. Almost as much as the food she cooks.
If this review was helpful please give it the thumbs up. Thanks :-)
| | | Does everything it says. My only minor criticism is the timer on the side is not very easy to read.
| | | i think this is the best health grill i've ever owned. it cooks well ,drains well and the adjustable heat control is a bonus and unique as far as i'm aware. the timer is really useful and gives a ping when times up. i'm renowned for burning food so this has been a face saver for me. it's so good i ended up buying two because my daughter took over the first one!
| | The top part is too heavy and that results in uneven cooking | |
| | When i got this i was a bit surprised at how bulky it looked.
I have one real complaint about this product, and that is, the top part is too heavy and all the meat cooks more on the top side than on the bottom side.
| | Great bit of kitchenware for kitchen, lounge or BBQ | |
| | This is a fantastic bit of kit and for the money it is really reasonable. I use it all the time, even with my housemates when we have an indoor "BBQ" in front of the TV! If I had a criticism it would be that it can be a little cumbersome to clean. It'd be great to be able to take the grill plates out of the machine to give them a scrub. I did look at grill options that had removable grill plates and for the same size they were alot more expensive. All in all I'm really happy with this one.
